Having achieved line honours, new records, class wins or overall wins in most of the Ocean Racing Classics like the Fastnet, Bermuda Race, Sydney to Hobart, Middle Sea Race, Transatlantic, Cape Town to Rio and the newer Caribbean 600, there is one event that this still missing on Wouter's list; a win in the Transpac. So Wouter is excited to be part of the 70 foot Holua crew for this year's race.
Says Wouter: "The biannual Transpac Race which runs from Los Angeles to Hawaii is a real navigators race, and has been on my hit list for a long time. Two years ago I did the race for the first time and with little preparation we ended up fourth overall. This time we are taking things to the next level by also doing the Cabo Race in March, and doing a bunch of two boat testing to optimize our downwind speed. With regular Skype calls with Dave Ullman and Peter Holmberg to organize every last detail, and a keen owner on our side, we are really leaving nothing to chance. This is going to be our race!"
The Cabo race starts on the 23rd of March and the Transpac Race will start on the 13th of July.
